CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

For everyone who is all in in their support for the casino at Suffolk Downs I hope you had an opportunity to travel thru Bell Circle or Revere Street today. Traffic on Revere Stree was backed up to Broadway and traffic from Bell Circle was backed up to Central Ave! Chip Tuttle, Rizzo and Festa can promise all the traffic signal improvements they want it won't help the trouble it will bring. 40 million in traffic mitigation with 35 million going just to one project to East Boston. 5 million won't get you a few crosswalk improvements.

My house is already on the market and quite frankly I will probably take any offer I get just to get out of her before the license is granted. By the way, I live in West Revere, I pray for my friend in Beachmont, the Beach area, or the Pines. Those poor people won't be able to get out of their driveways.

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

OMG Just a nightmare. Total Gridlock cars backed up not moving. Fire engine and an ambulance with sirens stuck cannot get through. The New Wonderland Transit Center looked empty.Ironically the Stop and Shop parking lot packed full. People with babies walking in the middle of the street, horns beeping.People drinking in public.
Took me 1 1/2 hour to drive home from visiting a relative, normally it take 15 minutes.
I would like to know the cost impact on public safety and city services in general for this one event.Anyone in Revere still thinking a casino is a good idea
My house is going on the market.

I attended the meeting at the RHS and have to tell you I had a sickening feeling in my stomach the whole time. Mr. Tuttle would answer almost every question with the fact that he was meeting with John Festa who was representing the City's interest.

Doesn't Mr. Festa have some very personal interest very clost to the proposal's location? Doesn't his family own the Atlantic Tower building located at Elliot Circle only a few hundred yards from the proposed site? I thought I remember a reading in the Globe a few years back that they were also involved in the Surf site land deal and ended up walking away with a nice profit and a piece of additional land that they use for parking.

Human emotion and self preservation being what it is don't you think Mr. Festa's first interest would be his own? I know I would take care of myself and my family first. Isn't that why we have ethics laws in this State or don't they apply in this case.

Any way back to Mr. Tuttle he kept on telling us that Suffolk was going to spend 40 million dollars on traffic improvements but glossed over the fact that after the bypass road there would only be 5 million for Revere and East Boston to share.

Then came Commissioner Evans, the former chief of Police in Boston. He comforted us by telling us that he had met with the chief of police in New Orleans and that he told him the casinos were not a problem. Well in terms of the New Orlean's problems probably not. Isn't New Orleans the murder capital of the world. If that is your major issue, prostitution, drugs, larceny and all the other social ills that casinos bring don't seem so bad. He also told us that he was heading to Cleveland to see that operation. So I guess we can hope to be like New Orleans and Cleveland? Not two cities where the quality of life is the best.

Also, at the RHS meeting Mr Tuttle was proud to state that Suffolk Downs sponsored the Sand Castle Sculpting. I was also stuck in the gridlock. It was just awful. I didn't see many cars parked in the Wonderland garage...however..Stop and Shop lot was filled...elderly shoppers were very angry as many handicap spaces were filled all day. This was told to them by employees...

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

I agree...I was trying to get to Point of Pines

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

It's not going to be the casino's fault! Did you see the Revere cops? They came down to the boulevard in their pretty traffic vests and walked up and down the concessions area. They waited for darkness and stood there watching the fireworks! Where is the supervision? There was a captain (guess who), a lieutenant and a sergeant and a half dozen or so patrolmen. The Staties were on foot all over the place. A Major, two lieutenants, three sergeants and a dozen or so troopers. The staties have full control of the beach and the event. The traffic problem evolved because the RPD did not go out into their assigned areas at Bell Circle, Nothshore Rd @ Beach St, Northshore RD @ Revere Street, Revere St @ rt 60 and Broadway Circle. The staties had Ocean Ave @ Beach St. and Ocean Ave @ Shirley Ave. Two lieutenant staties ended up on shirley ave saving a woman's life while some other staties were moving traffic out of the way to let the fire dept. and ambulance get to the scene. No RPD involved there either. The Revere cops need to be in town where they can direct the traffic through! Not on the boulevard authorizing and encouraging common victualler permit violations and concession license and permit violations and hanging around being paid to watch pretty girls and the fireworks! The staties are there for enforcement and the RPD is there for circumvention.

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

We all Must truly understand this. 35 Million is to be used to construct a fly over from Boardman st in EB merging right back into RTE 1A Traffic just before entering into suffolk Downs. Thatleaves Just 5 million more for mitigation between *Chelsea Revere & winthrop*. Yea right on folks, that wont even pay for all the merge right signs needed to control traffic. Bell circle will be a nightmare. Also what about all the traffic coming down from saugus Lynn etc areas.
Revere Blvd, North Shore Road, Revere Street will be impassable a nightmare of traffic. Seems they forget about that stuff. But on their own front doorstep EB they take care of. I thought DeLeo and Petriccelli were suppose to be representing us folks here in Revere. Seems like somethings amiss here. Last I hears a private consultant hired sent Senator Petriccelli the cost i believe was 500 million dollars to develop all the roadways into Revere from around the city. where did that consultant cost plan go. Now They say 40 million will do the same job. You think the Sand Castle traffic was bad. Wait until you have that kind of traffic every single day and double it on weekends. Just saying is alljust saying.

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

Yeah, I came along a few minutes after that poor lady dropped. She was like all blue and stuff and not breathing. A lot of people were just standing around her watching her die! :(
A lady ran down Shirley St and told the staties what had happened. They ran up and one got her breathing again while the other one was on the radio directing others into the area along with the ambulance thing and the fire dept. I didn't see no revere cops. That other poster is right. The revere cops were just down on the beach looking at the pretty girls and flirting and I suppose trying to get dates. I don't know. They are such a creepy bunch. The staties are nice though. Anyway the statie got her breathing again and it took like three or so more minutes for the ambulance guys to get there. They worked on her for a couple more minutes and got her conscious. Good thing the staties were there! They definitely saved this woman's life. The ambulance guys were good too. They woke her up and I guess the fire dept was OK except they screw traffic up even more but that's OK as long as the lady is alright. YAY STATIES :).

F-YOU RPD!

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

Our politicians have very poor memories. The traffic study done years before casino legislation was 10 times the price.
Of course they now don't recall such a study.
Read it.

Interesting read, everyone should click on the website and read it. It seems the traffic consultants report has been misplaced, misfiled or lost. Report is in the neibhorhood of $500 million for the 2010 Suffolk Casino Traffic study. Now they say $40 Million will suffice yea right. Sen Petruccelli cant remember it or glossed over it, so did Rep Deleo. They both represent Revere, but seem to have also misplaced that Revere part in their memory banks.
Petruccelli appears to be a coat holder for the Governor, sides with him on issues. He says Im at this time opposed on issues (I voted for it before I voted against it) but it does seem if Deleo or Governor says front and center he does. Its smart politics to bolster ones career to side with the Chair. It doesnt hurt when chairmanships are appointed etc.

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

Don't worry 300 employees were just laid off from Mohegan Sun. NO CASINO at Suffolk Downs. Revere and East Boston residents will vote NO

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

for your info maybe you should give your house to charity cause people like you that run away from everything that goes on in life are not needed in this city and you and others like you are why this city is going to ****

FYI

Your message doesn't make sense, who is running away.
As i read the posts they are asking where is the original study from the traffic consultant. which was 500 million now the say 40 million will do the job. Yea sure!
Because Fests and some council members say its okay, means Nada.

Have you looked at the original consultants figures for the casino, now
they are also doing the Wonderland soccer team (fix is in) study.

I`m thinking you may have a finger in this pie somewhere because the people that have posted in here are asking questions, and all they get is its OK trust us we know whats right for you.

Jeez look around at stop & Shop closing 100 or so local jobs gone. Whats next is that strip mall all going staples etc. 100 more local jobs gone.

Ask whats behind this or better who is behind this fiasco.

All the Casino's around the East Coast are in financial trouble and some want one here in Revere. Who's going to get their pockets filled if this becomes a reality.

You`re going to get exhaust fumes and still have the smell of horse s--t in Revere.

And grid lock every day of the year well except for a northeastner i guess.

Re: CASINO TRAFFIC-SAND CASTLES IS JUST A LITTLE TASTE

HI Tracker;

Would love to believe that, but where in Everett. That would present as much or more of a traffic problem then in Revere.
Any place in Everett would a logistical nightmare.

Although I'm all for any place other than Revere!

But I`m inclined to believe Tuttle, Festa, and Suffolk owners would love
to have Revere residents believe this Everett nonsense.
