Linn deputies group endorses Jack Burright

CORVALLIS — Benton County Sheriff’s Sgt. Jack Burright can add another endorsement to his list in his campaign for county sheriff.

The Linn County Deputy Sheriffs Association voted earlier this month to support Burright over Undersheriff Diana Simpson for the job.

“We’ve worked very closely with the Benton County Sheriff’s Office a few times, and we think Jack is the best choice for the position,” said Linn County Deputy Chris Houdck, association president.

Houdck said Burright contacted the association about speaking with them and seeking their endorsement. In January, Burright met with the association and shared his ideas of boosting cooperation between agencies to investigate all levels of crime and develop more crime-prevention strategies.

Houdck said that Simpson did not contact the association for a meeting or endorsement.

The vote was 89-2 in favor of Jack Burright.
