Some News

Charlie Rhoads is coming by my way this Sunday (5/25) to pick me up in his Cessna and we're heading down to Charleston for a couple of days to do some pre-reunion reconnaissance. Hopefully the weather will be favorable. I got my private pilot license in 1990, but have never made a trip of this length. It should be fun.

Also, I have assumed the duties of "webmaster" for my local USSVI BASE (Hudson Valley New York) and have been busy constructing a new site. You can get a P E E K here.

Take a few minutes to search out for some "hidden" links on the front page.

Re: Some News

Great Web site, one of the best I have seen. Have a great trip.
While you are in Charleston, stop by the 525 Club on Spruill (sp) in Charleston Heights. It is (or was) just off Reynolds Avenue. It was a Submarine bar owned by a gent named Toby who would lend you a few bucks till payday if he knew you.

Re: Re: Some News

Thanks Frenchy

I'm not certain, but Charleston you knew it is probably so far gone so as to not be recognizable. I did a search fro "525 Club" and came up empty.

Re: Re: Re: Some News

I'll be darned, the 525 Club was just there in 1962 when I left Charleston. I'll bet the strip on Reynolds Avenue is gone too. Lot of memories there.
My sister has been there recently and will be e-mailing me a few places they visited. The USS Clamagore SS-343 is there as a museum along with a carrier and another ship.
