I'm sorry and upset to hear about Ski. He was a rare individual and shipmate. He will not be forgotten. Sailor Rest Your Oar.

We'll all miss "Big Ski". He was a great shipmate and friend.

Buttons,

I'm thinking I might shoot over to Minersville, PA on Friday, depending on the timing of the memorial service.

Are you interested in riding with me? Think it over.

Re: Joe "BIG SKI" Willinsky EM3(SS) - ON ETERNAL PATROL

Paul, I would like to go. Looks to be about 135 miles from my house 2hrs 50min. The hours are 9-11 with a service at 11. We could meet somewhere. We'll work it out.

Re: Joe "BIG SKI" Willinsky EM3(SS) - OBITUARY
Re: Joe "BIG SKI" Willinsky EM3(SS) - ON ETERNAL PATROL

I am shocked and very saddened by the passing of Big Ski. He was one of the characters that made the sea robin "The Sea Robin". My condolences to Fran and the rest of his family. He will always be remembered!!

Re: Joe "BIG SKI" Willinsky EM3(SS) - ON ETERNAL PATROL

I think Ski left the boat a few months after I arrived so we did not serve together for any significant length of time.

My guess is that for the 4 years he rode the 407 he was the central character in every hilarious sea story or hi-jinx that occurred. Too numerous to keep track of, I'm sure.

One event I recall was him dropping down the AB hatch during the showing of a movie and swinging out on the ladder to check out was was on the screen. "look at that set of tits".

Of course the duty officer and his wife were in attendance that night.
