John C. Miller, 72, of Reedville, VA died on April 26, 2012. He was born on March 28, 1940 in Raleigh, N.C. son of the late Eugene L. and Mary Nell Miller. John graduated from Needham B. Braughton H.S. in Raleigh. He entered the US Navy in 1958 serving on the USS Patrick Henry, USS Thornback and USS Sea Robin.
In 1969 he started Custom Electronics in Gaithersburg later expanding it to Reedville, Va. In 1992, he split the company and ran it as M-TEQ based in Reedville for 14 years. Upon selling M-TEQ, John retired in 2006. He embraced the Northern Neck and its community. He joined the American Legion which quickly became his second home. He loved boating, laughing, talking, and mostly he enjoyed spending his time with family and friends. We remember him as loyal husband, loving father, master storyteller, tinkerer, lover of the water, and avid sailor. He will be missed and remembered by all that knew him.
Surviving are his wife of 40 years, Pam and his loving family including daughters, Stacey Miller and fiancee Kevin Lewis of San Francisco, Cal. and Laura Smith and husband, Matt of San Diego, Cal.; a son, Shaun Miller of Murrieta, Cal.; grandchildren Taylor and Sheridan; sisters, Mary Margaret Reilly and Janie Jones of North Carolina; sisters-in-laws Donna Griffith, Mary Catherine Mitchell, Roberta Mauzy and Audrey Mauzy; brothers-in-law, Kirk Reilly, Charles Jones, Bill Griffith, Don Wade, Henry Turner and Tim Mauzy; a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene L. Miller, Jr. and wife, Karen and their daughter, Paige Saaid.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 2, at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock. Interment Private. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
