I was browsing the Web today, nothing special about that, when I saw a photo that reminded me of a Shipmate many of us served with.
When we had our 1st get-to-gether in 1998 at the Groton Sub Vets, he showed up. As usual he did not have much to say, other than HI. But he was there and I was glad to see him again if nothing more than to hope that the occassion that we presented was pleasurable for him as it was for me.
So, as usual I plugged him name into "GOOGLE" and as happened before I got a 'hit'. As before it was not the kind I like to get.

Groton - Henry T. Wilkes, 73, of Groton, passed away on Monday, Sept. 5, 2011, at Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London.
He was born in Scotland County, N.C., on July 8, 1938, the son of Dilly Port and Ina Mae Wilkes.
Henry retired as a senior chief after 32 years from the U.S. Navy. He then worked as an electrician at Triangle Wire, Longwood and Dyna Systems. He was a member of the Fleet Reserve Association, Sub Vets, and the Electrical Union #86.
Henry is survived by his wife, Louise Manziak Wilkes, his son, Andrew J. Wilkes, his daughters, JuliannaRovero and Cassandra Wilkes, all of Groton; and a sister, Catherine Williams of Southern Pines, N.C.; as well as two grandsons.
A private graveside service will be held in Starr Burying Ground, Groton.
