Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Ok, no flames, please, as there was NO indication of this before today!
I had a nice, church-going woman call me about "Labradors" out of the blue, last week. She had bred one litter before, in the past. She really wanted to use her own male on her bitch, but he did not have clearances. I mean she REALLY wanted to use him. I spent a lot of time with her on the phone, letting her know that responsible breeding/pet ownership sometimes means letting go of the idea of using your male as a stud dog; that his value to her is more as a beloved companion than as a sire, etc. The bitch was already at day 8 of her heat cycle, time was running out, and she understood and agreed she needed to make a decision. I put her in touch with the breeder of her stud dog, who basically reinforced my advice.
Long story short, we arranged a meeting after many, many phone discussions. I spent almost 2 hours at her house showing her my male, and she still couldn't make up her mind. At that point, I told her if she couldn't decide, that breeding probably wasn't for her, and I needed to go home. (I'm thinking, she's too flakey). With that, she changed to gung ho, let's do it, explained that her hesitation had more to do with not being able to use her own male, and she assisted me with the breeding, readily following instructions. OK, good response...
We agreed to do a second breeding today, and again, after much discussion, we met at her house at the appointed time. We brought the two dogs together, I got my collection bag ready, and she became very interested in what was going on. Suddenly she said, I am not kidding, "Wow, your dog is really HUNG! He's bigger than my dog" At that point, I was busy doing the collection and didn't pay much attention to her. She then said, "I'm gonna have to take a picture of that!" and brought out her camera phone!!! I'm suddenly realizing she's taking pictures of his, um, manhood! At that point, I became very annoyed, and said, "You're not taking pictures of his penis are you?", and she said, "Yeah, I can't believe it! I've got to take pictures of that!"
I could not get her to help me inseminate the bitch as she was so busy taking pictures of him, standing there, very vulnerable, while she was holding the bitch, I had to yell at her to pay attention and help me with holding her girl. I asked her why she was doing what she was doing and she again said, "I just have to!"
Needless to say, I was a bit short with her after that, and ended up leaving pretty quickly. What do you say after that? She gave no explanation.
I'm sorry, I have never....!!!
I guess what bothered me was, yes this is my stud dog but he is also my baby and I feel like he was exploited by this weirdo. I told her just not to show those pictures to any of the puppy buyers, and she replied, "Oh of COURSE not!!" (Like, "Who do you think I am?") Weird, just weird.
I'm still in a state of shock!

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Um, okay ,like is this something we now have to put into our stud contracts,

No cameras, cellphones, video recorders,or other recordable devices will allowed in the vicinity while the breeding is taking place. Also no photos of the stud dogs "p&nis" will be allowed to be taken for furthur distribution without the express written consent of the stud dog owner......
I know how shocked I was when we saw our new boy Codey's for the first time, my husband promptly announced "THAT is not going near any of my girls!!!" He thinks they are still virgins.....

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Wow - how strange... I wonder if you are hoping that it takes or that it doesn't take! Another reason to have the bitch come to the stud (or maybe not - then she would know where you live!)

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

I have to admit, the first time I saw "it", I was overwhelmed too, although not to the point of grabbing the camera, ha! The picture is embedded my mind. The size is shocking when you consider the size of the dog. Was she married?
I often think thats why the husbands prefer not to help collect and won't collect. It's a bit much.

Re: Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

We might find him on some animal porn site..no kidding

The Mighty Labrador John Holmes!
Guess that reveals I've seen him too...:::blush::::

I can't believe how many weirdos the world has in it.

The first time I saw a boy I was agape but it was not like I had to take pictures.

Most women go "ewwww" but men look dazed! lol

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Ha! Ha! Tiffany We've had this discussion before but since Codey was my first Stud dog and having his son Mojo here as my main man. I thought large was the norm. Well now that I've handled other studs all I can think of when doing the collection is "That's it????"

Well I can understand your shock I'd be very weirded out by that behavior too. Some thing are best left undocumented.

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Yeah that is a little strange for behavour. I mean too, how did she know how engorged her dog was to compare to your male??? See, 'that' bothers me more than whipping out a camera.
I assisted a breeding years ago for my boss with a Standard bitch. The stud dog owner is a little loopy to begin with and left it to me to get the breeding. So I did and once the dog and bitch were tied, the stud dog owner went and got his camera. OK that totally weirded me out! My boss's husband was in the room and I looked over at him with rather a large, wide eyed look as in 'You HAVE to be joking buddy'.
I think I would have told her if she took any pictures, she would be choking on the camera or I'd be buying her a new one cuz she won't be able to reach hers!

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

The first time my hubby saw his dog's 'stuff' in that situation he was like a proud papa! But he certainly didn't take any pictures. I was like
Puh-leeze... Men! tres bizarre!

Re: Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

I guess being brought up on a farm you know all this stuff before you do a mating. I did however have a woman bring her female to my stud dog last year for a natural mating, when they tied and turn she just about freaked out, she had never seen a natural mating before, when they had finshed and my boy was standing in all his glory she was beside herself. And even when the litter was born she was still commenting on what happened and what she saw, she couldn't believe his bits got that big. I have two early 20's sons who almost walk around with their legs crossed say "thats gota hurt" when the dogs tie, oh the joys of mating dogs, perhaps some one should write a book and we could all send in our funny experinces.

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

I know that there are some countries where it is accepted practice to take a photo or two of the dogs tied during a natural breeding. This is to ensure that there is no question of the breeding being done with the correct stud dog...

Still, I think taking pics of the actual member to be more than a little strange...

Re: Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Okay I have a strange but recently true story to share.
My neighbors recently had a party and there were a ton of kids in the pool within viewing distance of my "work" area. Since I was invited to the party I felt I should say hi and explain that I'd be doing a breeding shortly and would put up coverage to prevent the kids from an education some parents might not approve of. Well I prepared as usual to do my breeding and as I went out to begin the PARENTS were lined up asking if they could watch OMG now what? Without thinking I said ok? and I went about the breeding talk about pressure I just tried pretending they werent there yeah right that worked! After the courting stage I collected my male the men were amazed at the size of an erect male and I think aliitle jealous The women only wished their husband's were as easy to accommodate!! I didnt know whether to think it all funny.... There was so many questions and I felt as this point educate was the only thing I could do. They wanted to know since now that the male was collected (first time breeding for the bitch so an AI was in order) what happens next so I choose to do the insemination in viewing distance instead of the privacy of my house as normally I would so they got the whole picture. The bitch thankfully was fully cooperative and the insemination went well. The whole thing for me was embarrassing but I felt that since I was asked to share that educating people there is more to breeding then most people realize it was something I should have done. BUT definitely the WEIRDEST breeding I've ever had to do!

Re: Re: Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

At least they now know that breeding dogs does not involve pitching them in the back yard together to "see what happens."

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

I guess in my grandmother years I'm just plain tired but I have to wonder about the maturity of anyone that interested in a dog's penis. I'd worry about her being able to help with her girl's whelping and deal with any emergencies that might arise in a cool and mature manner. What a child.

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Not all of us men are intimidated by the size of a dog's penis and some of us DO collect

Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Yeah, I agree with "how stupid", I AM worried about her abilities to do anything! We had discussed all this stuff before the first breeding; was she going to be present and prepared for the whole litter process, from beginning to end, was she prepared to bring her girl to the emergency hospital if neccessary, etc., etc., and she told me yes.
Her first experience breeding a bitch was years ago and she told me she got taken advantage of, that the stud dog owner gave her absolutely no support whatsoever. I felt a little sorry for her and let her know I would be there for her and help her interview puppy buyers, etc.
I feel like I put too much energy into this weirdo, and for the person who said they were uneasy about her comparing my dog's size with her dog's (remember he has never been used for breeding) I agree! I had not thought of that until you brought it up, and that's just an icky thought!

Re: Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

OMG is it just me, but I just had a thought, if she was comparing her dogs size to yours perhaps she has used her dog over the very same bitch, but is going to register them with your boy listed as the father, that would be my worry.

Re: Re: Re: Weirdest breeding I've ever done! (long story)

Thats sorta why I mentioned it. I think I would be asking her a few blunt questions.
