Bebe's low albumin

Thank you for your concerns.
Bebe'albumin was 9, her globulin 10 and her white count was 35,000 on 18 April and when checked at the hospital on 27 April the albunim was 22, the globulin 33 and the white count 21,000. This is an unbelievable improvement without any medications. The other scheduled procedures have been cancelled and she is only on metronidazole. She is doing very well. My specialist, my vet and myself suspect a mistake at the testing lab. The tests, procedures and consultations cost me approx. $1,000.00. I am a retired individual with four Yorkies and on a limited income. I think that blood tests mistakes are difficult to prove. Any of you ever faced with such a situation? Let's keep in mind that if I got the blood test results of another dog this one could be very sick but with good blood test results.

Re: Bebe's low albumin

I understand the costs involved so far but perhaps your vet could send blood work to a different lab to compare results for peace of mind.

Re: Re: Bebe's low albumin

Tanks for your reply. I have covered this with my vet but I would have to have the same blood sample as the one of 18 April. The specialist and the vet could not explained the improvement indicated by the second blood test of a week after. Well I guess the angels and St.Francois D;Accise answered my prayers. Thanks again

Re: Re: Re: Bebe's low albumin

What makes you think the lab made a mistake? The most common error is in patient identification. And that white count is not good. It is still high.

She said "This is an unbelievable improvement without any medications. "

I tend to agree with a human medical background as well. I am sure additional input from you would be appreciated my the original poster and surely you do know there can be labratory errors or ones in prepartion of the specimen. Thanks for any further input!

Re: Re: Bebe's low albumin

A white count that high is not an improvement. And the lab has all kinds of quality control.

Re: Bebe's low albumin

Labs do make errors, there are humans running it and we are capable of doing so.Who knows if that was the case here but don't fool yourself, quality control is in the statistics and it is far from 100%.Hopefully this little yorkie will improve regardless of if this was a lab error or not.She seems to be so far, let it continue.
