OFA Thyroid clearance

I see the new OFA statistics are posted on their site. I only see 296 Labadors having thyroid done since database has been kept.
I understand the thyroid results can be influenced by different factors (bitch in/near in season, recent vaccines, heat, stress, etc.); so is this why more are not doing thyroid clearance? Is it worth doing and submitting to OFA? Should more be doing it? I usually have bloodwork/thyroid done before ever breeding and for my own knowledge as a baseline for future reference.

Re: OFA Thyroid clearance

I do a MSU thyroid test on all my dogs when they reach maturity. I don't send them to OFA though. I have the paperwork from the lab at MSU and I use that.

Re: Re: OFA Thyroid clearance

I also do thyroid through MSU, I don't submit to OFA either. I feel like I get nickled and dimed to death submitting everything so all I submit is hips ,elbows and eyes. Thyroid and PRA I just do the test. Will be the same when I test for heart. I won't submit that either.

Re: OFA Thyroid clearance

Yup, MSU here too, never sent to OFA.
