PRLRC Lab Fun Day and B match

Have you ever wondered what talents your Labrador might possess? Here’s your chance to find out. Bring your new puppies and your old timers!


The Pawcatuck River Labrador Retriever Club is holding its fifth annual Labrador Retriever Fun Day on Sunday, May 20, at Delmyra Kennels on RT 102 in Exeter, RI, rain or shine.


Activities will be offered throughout the day for Labrador retrievers and their owners.


The day will begin with an AKC Sanctioned B Conformation Match at 9:30 am. Sweeps judge is Marilyn Meewes (Danbridge). Paul Maclean (Ocean Spray)is judging regular classes. Entry fee is $7 for first entry and $5 for each additional. A free handling class will be offered at 9:00.


Canine Good Citizen testing starts at 10. There is $10 fee per dog for the test.


You and your Lab will have the opportunity to try your hand and paws at Agility (11:00), Field Work (1:00), and Rally Obedience (2:30). There will also be clicker training and competitive obedience demonstrations.


In addition, you will have the opportunity to have your Lab micro-chipped and have his nails trimmed for a nominal fee. You can shop for bargains at the Dog House Treasures table, and speak with club members about your Lab. The club is also providing a blood draw for $10 if you are interested in signing up for an Optigen test. Admission is $5. Lunch will be available on the grounds. The PRLRC suggests that dogs be at least 4 months of age and be up-to-date on vaccinations.
