What consequneces could be if some dogs chewed the placenta of a new born colt, they did not eat it, just chewed and play with it for a litlle tiny bit?
I am worried , please don´t be hard on me, is a simple question from someone new on dogs
Hi Jeff,
I wouldn't be too worried. Canine dams commonly eat the placentas of their own babies. Your dogs/puppies may get some loose stool, but I would think that is about it. I know you are just worried. They should be fine.
How's the brand-new colt? Congratulations.
I don't think I would be too worried either. When I was a kid our farm dogs did it all the time - you know - just one of the things we never used to worry about. I agree - watch for loose stools, vomiting and any other signs or symptoms of upset.
But I am willing to bet that they will be fine - and dang happy they found the tastiest treat of the day!
