Pine sap

Any good suggestions for removing it from a dog's fur? That is besides thinning it out!!!

Re: Pine sap

Rubbing alcohol or nail polish remover.

Re: Re: Pine sap

resolvit, wd40, goo gone

Re: Re: Re: Pine sap

When we lived in our old house in Pine Hill (guess where the name came from!!!)we all used rubbing alcohol on cars, kids' toys, lawn furniture, hanging laundry, etc.

Re: Pine sap

Oil - cooking oil, baby oil, etc.

Re: Pine sap

vegetable oil or peanut butter. work it into the sap and let your other dogs clean it off!

works every time here - and pb works great on gum in the hair too!

Re: Pine sap

Toothpaste and a flea comb, non-toxic! Seriously, the toothpaste is a tiny bit abrasive and breaks the sap down, and the flea comb removes it. These are also items that you have on you, in the hotel room or the car in the parking lot at the showgrounds!

Re: Re: Pine sap

Beware:

Toothpaste is toxic,, read on the back.

My son almost died eating it. It is also on the poison control list...

Re: Re: Re: Pine sap

Yes, be careful with the toothpaste, agree. And all you need is a little baby oil. Out in two seconds. Just keep a small baby oil in your dog supplys.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Pine sap

I've always used the peanut butter. Works great.

Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Pine sap

Thanks, have all of the above around the house. Will start with alcohol!!!

Avon's Skin-so-Soft works well, and smells better than alcohol or nail polish remover, too!

Re: Pine sap

My dog got into it right before a show and I used Goo Gone. Rubbed it off thoroughly and then washed him as usual. Worked like a charm.
