kennel ideas

I'm in the process of building a kennel/boarding facility. Would love to see pictures or hear ideas of what works best for you. I've been to SO many websites but the kennels themselves aren't shown. I would also like to hear the "if I had it to do over again" stories. Thanks for your responses in advance.

Re: kennel ideas

Where do you live? I am also collecting this information in anticipation of relocating and building after my youngest daughter graduates high school in four years. I've visited, and taken notes and pictures of a few places, one of which is the Freedom Guide Dogs kennel near Utica NY. They have some pretty neat features. One I really liked is that they used dyed concrete - it's colored all the way through, a kind of brown color which looks nice and won't show a stain. No peeling paint either, and easy to clean. They also have radiant heat and cooling in the floor. I plan on revisiting them and doing a grand tour of as many kennels I can before I finalize the plans.

Re: Re: kennel ideas

I live in NE Ohio and have the makings of a 52x48 foot building framed and roofed. It will have 16 runs at various widths, the narrower being 5 foot and 20 feet long, the largest 8 wide, 20 long. The inside of the building is going to be floored with 4 x 8 fiberglass sheets with either fake, sticky tile or linoleum. I got the fiberglass sheets at one of out local fiberglass plants for free as they were 2nd's. The fiberglass is about 2 inches thick and is wavy on one side and smooth on the other but should be rat/mice resistant. I'm just unsure of the footing outside, I want something easy care, can sanitize and easy on the pooches. I thought of the patio pavers with sand but I don't know if the boarders would want that. I can hardly walk if I stand on concrete too long so I know it's hard on the dogs. I also have the front part of the builing 10 feet deep and 52 feet wide with nothing but framed walls for an "office" making that just 10x10, I want a bathing room and boarding area for cats and small animals and birds.

The site is AWSOM!!

Perfect!!!!!..is exactly what I was looking for, thanks so much. I've been on that site since you posted it, I do some chores, get on the site, do some chores, get on the site. I have notes like you wouldn't believe. AGAIN, THANKS!!
