Sap in hair

My 8 month old puppies have gottn sap in their hair and we have a show this weekend. I have tried shampoo without any progress. Any ideas on how to get this out of their hair without cutting it? It is all over them.
Thanks

Scroll down, this was just discussed.

Re: Sap in hair

You'll have to use something with oil in it - like vegetable oil, butter, peanut butter, etc., to get it out. Don't know how much you're going to need on the whole dog, though - plus shampooing it out later won't be much fun either!

Re: Sap in hair

my dog had stain on her coat from the fence I stained.
My vet told me to use WD-40 it was safe and hell It worked great!!!!

Re: Sap in hair

You can also use Goo Gone

Re: Re: Sap in hair

91% rubbing alcohol. Dissolves it quickly. Just be careful around eyes, noses, etc. . .

Just nice easy on the dog baby oil. Thats all.

Re: Sap in hair

I'd try baby oil first.
