INFO on CA AB 1634

Cross-posted with permission

Updated text for AB 1634 is on-line already at the PetPac site, so I
relay that link along with the grassroots effort "Save Our Dogs" and
again, always, The Animal Council website, which has excellent
background and points to remember as to this bill and the process.
Patti Strand's NAIA press release of June 4, 2007 is included also.

www.sfgate.com has another really stupid poll going also. (If you
thought that last poll was bad - wait til you see this one!)

p. p.s.
Further the political alerts I've sent in connection with access issues
in the Bay Area - the Bay Guardian has a good piece on SF SPCA:

For me, access always lies at the heart of these issues.

sacred as the laws of God, and there is not a force of law and public

sacred or liberty cannot exist." John Adams.

Re: INFO on CA AB 1634

CROSS POSTED

I just spoke to Sarah Sprouse in AKC's Canine
Legislation Department regarding what to do now.

1. Write a thank you letter to those Assembly Members
who opposed AB 1634.

2. Make appointments to meet with your Senators in
their District Offices to discuss our concerns with AB
1634.

3. If your club has a dog show or a club meeting,
invite a Senator to attend the show or club meeting so
that they can get to know us and understand our
concerns with this bill.

The vote in the Assembly was NOT strictly based on
party lines - so when meeting with your Senators,
approach them with an open mind and don't "assume"
that just because they're a Democrat that they will
vote to support this bill. Be polite, professional
and factual with the information you provide.
Whatever you do - do NOT get mad at them if they
appear to disagree with our position - thank them for
their time. You always want to leave doors open
because you just never know when they might support us
in the future.

Don't get discouraged just because this passed in the
Assembly. The fight isn't over yet!
