NY Times Article mentions "silver Labradors"

Interesting canine DNA article from the NY times:

"The gene responsible for those silver-coated Labradors, for example, is tied to skin problems."

The URL was very long, so I used "Tinyurl" to shorten it. It takes you right to the NY Times article:

Got that from my club list this AM.

Re: Lets try again - cool link

Finally the truth is emerging about silver Labs and their multiple inherent problems. This can only be a good thing for all those dedicated Labrador breeders who have warned the general public about silver Labs for years. We need to get this new information spread far and wide. Make sure you send the web link to everybody you know! Maybe the tide is finally turning?

Re: Re: Lets try again - cool link

Isn't there a silver or dilute breeder on this forum?

This same article was also on the front page of the San Diego Union-Tribune today.

Re: Re: NY Times Article mentions "silver Labradors"

One issue I've hear of is called color dilution alopecia and affects many breeds that have colors that are dilutes i.e. dobies, mastiff, greyhound, collies, shelties, chihuahua's, etc., etc., this is a link for info on it. http://www.vetsci.org/2005/pdf/259.pdf Seems it's not limited to silver labs.
