What are the reasons that most breeders elect not to feed the large breed puppy formulas? Just the higher protein/fat levels? What if the formula has 1.5% calcium or less?
Also, at what age do you stop worrying about the higher calcium % - after age 2? I have been wanting to put my dog on one of the grain-free diets but haven't because of the higher calcium %.
Personally, I believe that most of the puppy foods and large breed puppy foods are a marketing ploy. If you look at the ingredients, protein, fat etc. levels in the large/puppy food they are very similar or the same as many of the better quality adult food. I just use adult food for everyone.
