Ok what's the protocall for puppy distemper shot's I thought it was 3 shots total, because I didn't space them according the what the vets protocal is he now want's me to do a 4th shot....
it depends on what vaccine you use---if you use the Vanguard Plus 5 it's 3 doses, 3 weeks apart. The only reason to say you need to give another dose if the timing wasn't right is because no one cansay if the vaccine will work properly if it's not given as the manufacturer states.
I was told to make sure the last Vanguard 5 dose was given over the age of 16 weeks, (and after the Rabies vaccination), to ensure coverage. There has been a strong strain of parvo, that affects even older, vaccinated puppies.
If you vaccinated within the last 2 or 3 weeks, run a titre. If the titre is high and your puppy doesn't die of distemper, then you know he successfully seroconverted and won't need another one again
