Lab Books

Before I get my next lab puppy, I'd like to refresh and improve my training abilities. Any recommendations on good dog training books, specific to labs, would be appreciated.

Also, are there any good books that document the history of the breed. I bought Helen Warwick's book, The New Complete Lab Retriever, years ago. Just wondering if there is something more current available.

Re: Lab Books

My favorite is How to Raise a Puppy You Can Live With by Clarice Rutherford. She has Labs and is a member of the Denver Labrador Retriever Club . She does field work, obedience and I am sure conformation. Great book on getting the puppy started on the right foot. I give one to each of my puppy buyers. Ellie

Thanks. I will check it out. BTW, the yellow on your webpage cover reminds me so much of my last lab, woody. What a beauty!

Re: Lab Books

Good dog training book but not specific to labs:

"Handbook of Applied Dog Behavior and Training, Vol. 3: Procedures and Protocols"
Steven R. Lindsay
