Vick case/HSUS (please read before making a donation)

This is from another mail list that I am on:

There is a disclaimer in small print on the donation page of HSUS
that it can be used for other programs. But truth is if they do not
have the dogs, and Virginia has been asked directly, and it looks
like they are in several shelters, then it is questionable that HSUS
says donate to help the dogs. Here is a vegan bringing up the issue.
Note the comment on considering the salaries as HSUS is known for
obscene salaries. (As a charity their tax returns are public.)

Sorry. I think I got an extra space in the first post. This one works:

As someone who lives in the same county as Vick I can personally tell everyone those dogs are split up and are isolated in local area shelters run by the individual counties in this area. This is a very rural county, as well as the surrounding counties. These shelters are not supported by the HSUS, but by our local county governments. Its very sad because our shelters count heavily on donations from county residents and are in need of improvements. it would be nice if the HSUS would come through and actually help support these dogs until a judgement is made. For now it is up to the localities and county residents to help support these dogs as well as the ones housed who are not Vicks.

Don't count on any financial assistance from the HSUS. Remember, they are NOT a physical, humane society site like your county facility. The vast majority of their $$$ goes to "education", i.e. AR propaganda.

Re: Re: Vick case/HSUS (please read before making a donation)

Maybe an address or contact person so people could send donations to these humane societies would help. It's sad to think what may happen to these dogs. Pitbulls have a tendency to be animal aggressive anyway and if they've been trained to fight, it's doubtful they can be placed.
