I think that most folks that frequent this board are passionate about the breed and are for the most part extremely determined to educate pet buyers about the fact that silver is not an approved color.
The LRC, as our AKC parent club has an official stance on Silvers on their webpage.

It's not a true color. Reputable breeders know this and do not introduce the lines that were crossed with a breed that carries the dilute gene a few decades ago. Silver breeders cannot show or do not show or work their dogs to prove quality, therefore are just breeding to perpetuate the color to make money.
I just don't know what else there is to talk about on the subject.
So much was said on here...genetics, ethics, arguments ad nauseum...i even see the topic silvers and shudder a little, I cant help but wonder if this board just got a little to quiet for some:)
I know some have put a considerable amount of time and research into the topic, simply to debunk it once and for all...I hope the articles some have mentioned do get written and they are kind enough to post on a web page and maybe next time the issue comes up we can just point them there and be done with it.
