puppies and calcium

Since it's recommended to keep the calcium % between 1% and 1.5% for puppies, how long to you heed this advice? I have a 15 month old that I would like to put on a grain free food, but I am worried because the calcium % is too high.

Re: puppies and calcium

I have been in touch with Evo and Natures Variety and breeders feeding Orijen.

Evo and NV say it is fine to use their food from 12 months on.

Breeders I know feeding the Orijen to weaned and growing pups are having good results.

Evo 3.03% calcium
NV Instinct (chicken)2.49
Orijen 1.4 to 1.8

NV has come out with new formulas, one being rabbit based and is only 1.12 calcium - which should be fine for a growing pup.
