What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

Just doing a survey here to see what your repo or vet charges you all to do a surgical implant. Don't want the costs to do the progestrone testing, just the implant procedure total cost.

Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

$150.00 - $250.00 - southern Idaho - not a repro specialist - just a vet that the bulldog breeders in the area have "trained".

Re: Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

A friend paid $400 in Ohio and another friend paid $1400 in PA, near NJ.

Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

$360 by our repro vet in Atlanta.

Re: Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

Just paid 650.00 here today in Hawaii

Re: Re: Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

I was just quoted 300$ for a very good repro vet her in Florida.
250$ actually, but the extra is for anesthesia etc.

Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

$720.83 in Maryland for a straight forward procedure with no complications, etc...this amount does not
include progesterone testing, semen, shipping or ultra-sound.

Re: Re: What does it cost you to do a surgical implant?

A friend recently told me that the person from whom she got her dog (not a Lab) routinely does implants, and I wondered why. Could any of you who use them explain? I'm not criticizing, I just want to know when they are considered necessary.

Thanks in advance.

Because....

It is a fool proof way of having a litter. We have been doing 100% surgicals since 1999 on all chilled semen shipments plus a few fresh semen breedings, 100% success, not a single miss.

Gregg, you might want to qualify that with the success rate predicted by the specialists is NOT 100% and that you've had some hidden horseshoes along the way.

I do surgicals as well and the success has been phenomenal. It allows the sperm to be placed where it needs to be so the "boys" can concentrate on finding the eggs rather than wasting energy swimming upstream like salmon.

Re: Re: Because....

You are correct, nothing is 100%....but.....we have averaged 3 a year since 1999 with no misses.
In addition, it saves the little guys having to travel through all the hidden dangers lurking along the way.
