I don't know about anyone else, but I have already started getting inquiries regarding the availability of pups for the holidays. In responce, I have decided to post a temporary page to my website specifically addressing this issue. If anyone's experiencing the same thing, and you think it might help to post a simular statement on your site, feel free to check out the link at http://www.candyheartretrievers.com/holiday.htm
Also, if anyone has any additional suggestions that might help deal with this issue, I'd love to hear your ideas.
When my parents wanted to give our kids a puppy for Christmas way back when, they wrapped up a leash and collar, and wrote a little note on a Lab Christmas card that said something like "I can't wait to come to live with you in my new home, but I'm too young to leave my mommy right now" and it was signed with a paw print. It was just amazing to see their faces as the whole idea dawned on them!
That's exactly what I tell my clients to do when they are asking where they can get their kids a puppy for Christmas. Just get a box and fill it with all kinds of puppy stuff, collar, leash, toys, treats, gift certificate for puppy classes, and of course a picture of the puppy that will come home AFTER the Christmas tree comes down. As the parents think about it...it begins to make sense for them to wait until after the holidays to bring the new puppy home.
