I used to test in April, then have them on interceptor until after the first hard frost (around november). However, since I have a history of whipworms, I now keep them on it year-round.
I did test everyone this spring just to make sure all is well.
I live in Rhode Island and have been giving Heartguard year round for over 20 years. I have seen mosquitos through out the winter....they're moving slowly but they are out there. It's alot cheaper to prevent heartworm than it is to treat it.
