Sorry about the heading but there is no other way I can put the question. I have an 8 month old dog puppy and it is so long since I have had a male that I don't know if his are smller than normal or not. I do realize that like most males there a wide varience in size but I googled the question and of course all I got was pornagraphic sites. Is there a web site that has the testicular growth in Labrador dogs.
It's not so much the size, as the firmness that would cause me concern. They should feel firm. If they lose that firmness, and begin to feel boggy, this signals an issue. I had a male that this happened to. His testicles both finally atrophied to nothing. His tests were Neg. for Brucella, thyroid normal. It was suspected that he had something producing estrogen... tumor or hidden ovary (yep, ovary). They never found either. When he was neutered, all that was left was the scrotum and a mess of tissue that were once egg sized testicles. Nobody knows if it was some autoimmune issue attacking the testes, or not. Many years later, he is healthy, happy, and growing old in a pet home.
LOL, if I didn't know any better, I'd think that my fiance posted this question! We have an 8-month-old pup with the same issue. He has grown so fast, but his testicles haven't really caught up yet. They too are each about the size of a walnut and my fiance is worried about his fertility. I keep telling him not to worry, that when he matures, they should be fine and this is not an indication of a fertility problem. I'll have to show him this thread!
Laura you are a riot but warn me next time please, btw thanks for making me spit my diet pepsi on the edge of my new keyboard (it still works so far lol)
Thanks for the replies, each one is the size of a smallish walnut, nice and firm tho, he to is a big fast growing boy so I guess we just wait and see how he progresses. My husband is starting to think the dog gets more "handling" than he does, at the moment he is most like right.
I didn't know this forum was hazardous to one's health! "a baseball!" I choked on a cookie and then "pay me $800". Diet Sierra Mist through the nose is not pretty!!!!!!!!!
They sound just the right size to me. I have a 5 month old and was thinking he is way to small. Marbles, little marbles. But guess they are all different. With Laura's like baseball, whoa. Maybe the little ones are better at this stage. But yes, the boys are cute with all the little parts.
