Puppy Vaccines/Wormer

I know this has been answered to death. But it is interesting to see what schedule we all use for puppies.

2, 4, 6 worm

6, 9, 12 Puppy Vaccines

Straight Parvo at 14 weeks followed by a Bordatell...what age? I hate to shoot that stuff up a 6 week old puppy nose! But KC is going around so hot and heavy at shows and I am going to 2 more before the pups leave my house. I will have the 1 I am keeping...
Rabies at 4 mos(I think that's when my vet will do it).
Is this still the norm?

Re: Puppy Vaccines/Wormer

My understanding is that vaccines much before 8 weeks old are useless. We vaccinate 7 1/2 weeks, 11 1/2 weeks, and 15 1/2 weeks.

I change my worming schedule every time. I can't find one I like.

Re: Puppy Vaccines/Wormer

I give injectible bordatella (Bronchicine). Seems to work as well or better than the nasal for me. Haven't had one dog or pup with that vaccine ever get kennel cough even when directly exposed.

Re: Puppy Vaccines/Wormer

Of all the things we do as responsible breeders of dogs vaccines seems to be one of the more controversial issues. This particular link that I am sharing was passed on to me via our Langley Kennel Club. Here is an interesting URL regarding vaccination protocols: you may want to pass it to our membership.

I have run it by both my reproduction specialist vet and my terrific "generalist" vet and both agreed with it 100%. It is worth looking at the whole powerpoint presentation, if for nothing else for more knowledge of why we do what we do and why.
