Thanks to everyone who posted...I Googled and found a very intersting account of one dog and it mentioned a couple of meds to possibly use to keep them comfortable.(will be talking to vet about these) We also did bloodwork and it has all come back normal. We will most likely still do a chest x-ray and just monitor him for now. When he is calm and relaxed he is fine...as many have mentioned it is just when he gets excited that the breathing is laboured...so we are just keeping him calm as possible and when feeding, let him relax a bit first then give him smaller amounts, and don't let him drink a lot of water all at once. So far, he's doing ok...
