This e-mail was forwarded to me today. These bills are coming up for a public hearing that they apparently are keeping under wraps. They sure make this hard for working people to attend these hearings. If anyone can go to speak for breeders that would be good. Selling 25 puppies in a year makes you fall under this so that could be just two litters of Labs or having 2 litters and placing a couple of adults.
Here is the e-mail:
I serve as a member of the Senate Committee on Small Business, Emergency Preparedness, Technical Colleges and Consumer Protection, and I received notice today from the Chair of the Committee to hold September 23, 2009, 9:00 AM open on my schedule for a joint public hearing with the Assembly Committee on Consumer Protection for Senate Bill 208 and Assembly Bill 250, also known as the puppy mill bills.
Here are links to both bills:
Senate Bill 208: http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/2009/data/SB208hst.html
Assembly Bill 250: http://www.legis.wisconsin.gov/2009/data/AB250hst.html
An official notice of public hearing has not been published; however, I want to give you a heads up.
Sincerely,
Mary Lazich
