Full Litter Registration was specially designed for breeders to individually register all the puppies in the litter to themselves at the time of litter registration for a reduced fee!
We implemented the Full Litter Registration to encourage responsible breeders like you to register all the puppies in your litter in one easy step. This benefits breeders by eliminating the individual litter puppy fee, reducing puppy registration fees and providing discounted pedigrees for each puppy in the litter. For a litter of five puppies, this saves you more than 35% in registration fees! With the standard registration process breeders/puppy owners will pay $135 to register the litter and each puppy individually. With Full Litter, registration for the litter and each puppy is only $85. That's $50 off!
While this may be an outstanding offer, many of you reported a reluctance to use the Full Litter Registration because of the inability to change registration status from Full to Limited if a puppy from the litter was eventually determined to be unsuitable for breeding. We have now changed that process for you!
New Process
To address your concerns, AKC will now allow breeders to assign the limited designation to a dog post registration through the first transfer, as long as the dog was first registered through the Full Litter Registration process. All breeders of the dog have to agree to add the limited designation and it must be done before the first transfer. Remember, you can also request limited when the initial application for registration is submitted.
To change registration status from Full to Limited, all you need to do is complete an Application to Designate Limited Status. This form can be found here.

We will continue to work on making the Full Litter Registration process better for you and your puppy buyers. In the coming weeks we will include special registration benefits for transfers, including a complimentary trial of the AKC Pet Healthcare Plan if not previously activated for the dog.* This valuable, no-obligation benefit offers coverage for unexpected accidents or illnesses up to $1,500 ($500 per incident).
Why use Full Litter Registration? Full Litter Registration allows AKC to better serve you, by offering reduced pricing, allowing you to select the names of each individual puppy, ensuring the accuracy of puppy data (color, markings, etc), securing the proper use of kennel names, and eliminating the risk of puppy buyers not completing the registration process. Full Litter Registration also creates an added incentive for fanciers to successfully participate in the AKC Registration Pledge Challenge currently underway. By using Full Litter you are guaranteeing that 100% of your puppies are ultimately registered with AKC.
