whelping

How long after the water breaks would you expect the first puppy?

Re: whelping

Since your post doesn't give much info, and if this is your first litter, I suggest you phone your Vet for help and advice.

Re: whelping

2 hours max. 1/2 hour after the first push.

Re: whelping

Hopefully you have read up on whelping a litter and not just winging it.

Everytime I am expecting pups, I read this book from cover to cover....

Are you kidding? I have had girls go 3-4 hours before the 1st puppy is born. As long as there is no distress, no unusual discharge and nothing to panic about, let nature take it's course. I do agree if this is your first litter, please call your vet and get help.

Re: whelping

Why would I call the vet? There is nothing wrong. Not yet anyway. It is not my first litter as you may have assumed. I just don't remember the time frame you would expect the first puppy. Thank you for the help.

Re: whelping

Good luck with the whelping. It's too bad some people can't just answer a question without being nosey or the superior attitude.

Re: whelping

Hope all is fine. Mine usually has a pup about an hour to an hour and a half after water breaks. But the ones who have gone over that really do start to get me stressed. It just takes time. Always glad after the first pup arrives. Good luck.

How are mom and the pups doing?
