I've been using Canidae Grain Free All Life Stages and have had fabulous results. They have a fish based one as well but right now the meat one is doing a great job here.

I have not tried this food...but have heard many good things about it....Petcurean "Now" is grain free.....it is a Canadian based company with very high standards. They make a puppy food that is much lower in protein than most of the grain free puppy foods. They also have Petcurean "GO' which does have a small amount of grains.....one is Salmon and oatmeal....single protein and carb. for allergic dogs. I think the food is worth looking into....I don't know the prices or the availablity.

If your dog is doing well on the current ratio of protein to fat.. I would not change that.

Higher protein just seems better for some dogs. My girl gets a higher protein food but she is very active and high energy.

Great Life also offers a grain-free line; they also have grain free cookies - using potato starch/flour and tapioca. You might also want to look at Natural Balance.

Most of my dogs are on Acana Wild Prairie. It is grain free, 33% Protein, 18% Fat, and is made from Chicken, Egg, and Fish Proteins. I do have 2 girls who do not do as well with chicken and they are on Acana Pacifica which is grain free, all Fish Proteins and it is 33% Protein and 17% Fat. My dogs range from 10 months to 12 years and all are doing well on this food.

Acana Pacifica or Orijin Six Fish. Top choices in my opinion, have fed both to a chicken intolerant pup/now dog, she never has a problem unless she snitches chicken food from somewhere else.

My boy is doing great on the Natural Balance Limited Ingredient Diets line. I'm assuming you know the PP Selects isn't grain free. Or at least it wasn't when I was feeding it 3 years ago.

You may want to check out Honest Kitchen. They have a few different varieties.

I have one of mine on California Natural Herring and Sweet Potato. Does have barley and oatmeal in it. 21% protein, 11% fat. My boy has alergies and is doing really well on this food!
