I have an AVID chip that I implanted and then lost the pre-paid registration form. I notice on the AKC papers, you can put a chip number on there and get it registered with AKC. Has anyone done this before? Can any chip be done this way or are there chips specifically for AKC?

AKC does have their own chip, the trovan. However, any chip/dog can be registered w/ CAR through AKC.

Go back to your vet, have him scan your dog for the number and give you another registration form. Did the same thing a year ago, lol.

Oops, I see that you did it yourself. Your vet should still be able to scan and give you the registration form anyway.

I register all my chips with AKC, not the manufacturer. Cheaper and only a one-time fee. Some chip companies require an annual fee.
