Depends on what you are looking for. If you seek overall eye health, then you keep cerf'ing. If you are only interested in signs of PRA then my ACVO vet says 7yrs. At 7yrs, I shift eye checks every 2-3 years or if I suspect other issues due to possible injury or age. If I have an older girl that I am breeding then I will do an eye exam since most breeders want them even though I have a PRA clear/carrier status dog.
I stop cerfing when I retire the dog from breeding. Then I just cerf when/if I suspect an eye issue. My dogs are PRA clear, so I am not worried about that.
