Higher protein (more nitrogen = more ammonia) presumably can break down into higher alkalinity.

Hence the lawn being burned out from urine.

Remember AMINO ACIDS are the building blocks of protein, the word AMINO is the basis for AMMONIA. Hence the higher pH and more alkalinity.

I find it interesting that the most alkaline (high pH) food listed is LEMON. I thought citric ACID (the opposite of alkaline) would be far from the top of that list.

I think this requires a bit more attention.
