Deformed puppy, rescued from trash, learns to walk

Happy ending!

Re: Deformed puppy, rescued from trash, learns to walk

The bad news is that the vets, even at the vet school, didn't recognize a mere swimmer puppy when she was rescued. I couldn't believe what I was reading. I thought that we might have made progress in the last 20 years. Granted, she was an extremely neglected case, but they are so rubbery (cartilage at that age) her survival should not have been in question, and the referenced tests seemed over the top to me.

Thank you, that's what I thought but was unsure. I have read so much about swimmer's here and was amazed that the vets were not as educated.

Ditto.
I immediately wondered why a swimmer puppy needed to pe put down. She was still very young. I am glad they figured that out and will find her a happy home.

A few years ago, Joan McGinnis of Tulgeywood took a rescued Lab pup from the Mid-West in. With the same type of therapy including hydro he was nursed back to a walking dog by Joan.

The difference was, the rescue knew he was a swimmer pup from the beginning. That's when Joan took over and did a FAB job.
