Questions

When you submit a sample for the *OFA Thyroid Panel* for $15, does the owner know what type of panel they are doing? Is it a *full* thyroid panel and do we get full results besides *normal* or *abnormal* from the panel?

TIA for any help with my questions from anyone who has submitted for a thyroid panel. I never knew that OFA did the testing. I thought the owner submitted the results done by their vet with the labratory report.

Re: Questions

When you submit for the OFA database for $15, the blood sample itself is not submitted to OFA. The $15 is just a payment for the results of the panel you already did and paid for separately to be posted on the OFA database. Similar to having results from EIC or PRA posted to OFA (done by a different laboratory, results submitted with the $15 fee).

There are specific labs approved by OFA to perform this test. Look through the OFA Thyroid Database information:
http://www.offa.org/thy_info.html
http://www.offa.org/thy_proc.html
http://www.offa.org/thy_labs.html (this link has the labs to which the blood sample has to be submitted for the test result to be accepted by OFA)

Thank you Julie. I knew I had to have misunderstood something. Thanks for explaining it all and supplying links.

Good luck & congrats with your soon upcoming *big day* .

Re: Questions

I'd do a thyroid panel through Jean Dodds. IMO, she is the best, and gives the most complete results. Hemopet is her company.

I just did but thank you for mentioning it. I'm still posting the results on OFA even tho she won't ever be bred. It's good information on the OFA data base as I can not handle that Labradata website progam. No please, I don't want help and won't spend many hours on it ever again.

I apologize for taking this long to return post. Thank you to the repliers.
