If I see pups start to level off on weight gain OR show signs of overeating on some meals (because they didn't get on mom fast enough the last time she nursed)-- and maybe gettng diarrhea, I know it's time. With my bigger litters, I've often started a couple days shy of 3 wks w/ a gruel mix.
