Showing WET dogs

I would like to talk about showing wet dogs for the summer season. How do you feel about it ?

Re: Showing WET dogs

Can keep the dog comfortable and also show off a good coat. Towel off a bit so the judge doesn't get all wet though.

Re: Showing WET dogs

agree with Nancy.

Re: Showing WET dogs

When I am judging I encourage exhibitors to cool down their dogs. When you are showing in the summer it is very important to keep the dogs cool. I should be the only one in the ring that is hot!

Re: Showing WET dogs

At really hot shows, I have had breeder judges actually thank me for wetting my dog down as they are going over the dog. .

Re: Showing WET dogs

Great idea to wet down dogs to cool them off, but there are a lot of exhibitors whose dogs are very dirty and smelly. See it more at specialties. A very dirty dog who gets wet smells even worse, and the crud gets on the judges and exhibitors hands. Those exhibitors should do more then just wet down their dog. They should hose it off until a lot of the awful smell is rinsed off. JMO.
