it's all in the timing

Question on timing and breeding my bitch.
Her season started May 20th.
On day 5 May 25th Friday she tested at 0.2.
On day 10 May 30th Wednesday she tested 1.1.
On day 12 June 1st Friday she tested 3.4

When would you breed her? I won't be able to test again and I am using fresh side-by-side semen and
A-I.The vet suggested to breed tomorrow (Sunday)
but I think that sounds early?

Re: it's all in the timing

Fresh semen (side by side) should last 3-5 days in the bitch so tomorrow should be adequate, but Monday should be right on target....as long as she doesn't pull some kind of wicked stunt!

Re: it's all in the timing

as long as it's just as convenient - I would go ahead and do Sunday and then again on Tuesday

Re: it's all in the timing

I would do Monday. Test her again on Monday and then go from there for the 2nd breeding.

Re: it's all in the timing

Sorry as I mentioned above I cannot test again. I do appreciate the suggestions!

Laura, if she was a 3.4 on Friday depending on the time you drew blood, she will probably hit 5.0 friday night. Breeding is 48-72 hours later. Monday/Tuesday are going to be your hot days.

Re: it's all in the timing

I would breed tomorrow. May be early. Take a box and bring some back for Tues. that should do it. Did that once. Worked fine.
