What class at show

I never bred my own show dog before and so I was always in open classes.
Now I have one that I bred myself and wondered if he should be in bred by class or open.
I was told you get a extra nod from the judge if you are in bred by.
Is that true?

Re: What class at show

One of the reasons that I like the BBE class is that the handlers can only show dogs they have bred

if you are proud of your breeding and the dog is competitive, then show in Bred By. At a Specialty it is going to be very competitive

Re: What class at show

another way to look at it....
you can go in open class and parade around with a piece of art that you bought...everyone thinks..."that is a beautiful piece of art"

but if you are in BBE class everyone thinks..."that is a beautiful piece of art"...and there is the proud artist".

Re: What class at show

Depends on the judge, some will not look past the open classes, but a good judge gives equal consideration to all the dogs regardless of what class they are in.

Re: What class at show

Where I live BBE is cheaper than Open, so why not take advantage of that? I like BBE. I bred the dog, I want to make that known.
