I know there are few that give their seniors glucosamine but I was wondering if anyone supplements their puppies with glucosamine to prevent joint issues?
If you wait till they're seniors its almost too late. Gluco/Condroit helps build and repair cartilage that is already there. I waited with one dog that had cruciate surgery until she was 12 before starting and showed no difference. I start all my young dogs on Dasaquin at 6 months and have been successful. My ED dog coudn't live without it. There is research to show it's benefits when started early.
Cheap insurance against future pain. Our dogs our tough on their joints. I want to do all I can to keep them pain free as they age.
Just a few research papers. BTW, the company that makes Dasaquin/Cosequin has done a lot of research, many others have not. I do not sell product for them.
I put my puppies on Cosequin at 7 weeks and continue them on it for life. If my dogs start to show signs of arthritis or joint issues at any age I change them to Dasuqin with MSM and keep them on that for the rest of their days.
Thanks for the respond!
Some say that glucosamine won't make any difference if the dog already has dysplasia... they say that either the dog is born with it or not and no glucosamine will change the fact.
What is your thought about this?
