Puppy is 9 weeks old and one is not down. What is the consensus about how long I should realistically wait before I place him?

You can wait for months, but they really should be down by 8 weeks.

I won't ever wait past 10 weeks again... it was a heartbreak to place a drop dead gorgeous boy at 10 months. I kept waiting, entirely too long because I let myself get emotionally involved instead of doing myself what I tell anyone else to do....

I had a friend with a pup of a different breed recently whose second testicle finally dropped at 6 months, so I would guess it would depend on how patient you felt you could be and how you would feel if months down the road it didn't and you still had him or if it did and he was no longer yours.

In my friend's case, he was purchased as a performance prospect, so it didn't really matter to her whether it dropped or not.

I've heard if it isn't there by three months forget it.

The only time I one not drop by 16 weeks it happened. Can you find it at all ?

I had a Labrador puppy that dropped his second testicle at approximately 6 months. He had no further issues and, in fact, when he was collected and frozen, was as fertile as they come!

I wouldn't give up!!
