How long can I expect a bitch to hold coat after a season? I know my girls do not blow coat before a season. Now I have one in season and would like to show her but am uncertain how long she will hold coat now that she is in season. She is not being bred and there are some good shows coming up.

Mine usually start to blow about 2-3 months after they go out of heat which coincides with hormonal changes as if they had a litter.

Both my girls hold their coats for four months after their season is finished.

I would say 2-4 months until they start blowing their coat after a season. I think it also depends on the temperature. If its cold they hold the coat longer but if its warm they loose faster.

2 to 6 mo. depending on weather, outdoor time, temp in the home and which bitch of mine it is.

Mine varied greatly - I had one who would start to blow before her season ended, and another who would go 4-5 months, plus others in between. I just know once they start blowing, I stop entering.
