Epilepsy research - updated 5/5/13

We have new counts from the University of Missouri research team. We now have a total of 248 labs whose blood has been received for epilepsy research. Of that total, 93 are affected, 151 are non-affected, and there are 4 whose status is uncertain. We have a total of 31 sibling pairs.

In April 2009 there were no pairs and very few labs period. We have come a long way. Since then, the researchers have found the most significant information been gleaned from family groups.

If you have access to any dogs whose blood could possibly help with this research, please, please, please consider joining this effort to find the cause. Your dogs may hold the secret to this disease.

Most vets are happy to draw blood for the research at no charge. The shipping only comes to a little more than the cost of a single show entry. And once there is a test, you will be told the exact status of all the dogs whose blood you submitted. This really is an excellent opportunity.
