Crate recommendations?

I need to purchase some new wire crates and it's been years since I've looked. Anyone have any recommendations? It doesn't look like Kennel Aires are around any more?

Thanks

Re: Crate recommendations?

I've been happy with the Midwest crates I've used over the past couple of years.

Re: Crate recommendations?

Kennel Aire is still around! They just don't make the commanders any more. They have a website. Still expensive and well made!

Re: Crate recommendations?

Hi Sue - if I use www.kennel-aire.com, it redirects me to www.petmate.com. Is this the same company under a new name? The crates don't look anything like the Kennel Aires I've had with the 1" mesh.

Edited: I see now that Petmate did indeed acquire the Kennel Aire name: http://www.petmate.com/petmate-announces-acquisition-of-kennel-aire-llc

They don't sell the true Kennel-Aire crates from the site. They want you to contact them for dealers.

Re: Crate recommendations?

Foster and Smith has some Kennel-Aire crates. I have some of these and they are very nice. They are bigger than the Commanders, so if you have a small vehicle probably won't be what you are looking for.

Re: Crate recommendations?

I'm a fan of the Precision "Great Crate" 4000.

(I tried the Midwest crate, but the vertical wires were sharp on top and I scratched/cut myself a couple times before I had to take a file to them.)

The Precision "Great Crate" has two doors, one in front and one on the side for convenience, folds nicely, not too heavy, and have a nice heavy bottom pan. The 4000 is 36" x 23" x 26" and is available today on Overstock.com for $77.99 with free shipping.

Good luck!
