I have a bitch coming in to breed to one of my stud dogs and the bitch owner told me that she had missed a litter in the past and was diagnosed at that time with a beta strep infection. She did a course of antibiotics at that time. She was bred successfully last year and was on antibiotics while being bred. The bitch owner thinks that she is fine now, but I thought I remembered something about beta strep re-occurring in bitches and that they should be on antibiotics every time that they are bred if they have been diagnosed in the past with it. I am just a little concerned about her coming to my kennel and not being on antibiotics, not to mention I don't want to waste my time doing a breeding that may not result in puppies. Any thoughts?

My stud dog tested positive for beta strep some time ago. I would definitely have the bitch on antibiotics well in advance and throughout the breeding period.
