Cow hocked youngster

I have a 7 month old bitch I kept that has been cow hocked the past couple months. She was not cow hocked at 7-9 weeks when we evaluated. Is this something she could grow out of? At times in the back yard she seems to stand better but her free stack is horrible when you look at the rear. Anything I should be doing to improve it or should I be throwing in the towel?

Probably a growth stage or just plain being sloppy. Watch her gait going away from you, that will tell the story.

Re: Cow hocked youngster

I agree, it is probably/possibly a growth stage. A lot of times, at that age, they have more leg, than they know what to do with; especially, if they are well angled. Their hocks turn in, to adjust for this "uneven" growth. I wouldn't give up on her,at this point, because of it.

I installed electric fence, that helps keep them from hocking in when they jump…I can't imagine a pup changing that fast…whatever you saw at 8 weeks should be what you see at 2-3 years old
