I recently picked up a beautiful 2 1/2 year old black female that needed to be placed. She has not yet been spayed and isn't due to come into heat until this fall.
We have an intact 6 year old chocolate male that I'm still trying to finish.
Our male has always been a humper of both males and females. A simple "no" or "stop it" does not work - only dragging him off and then incarcerate in the x-pen or kennel. When dogs have visited here, he usually gets over it after a day or so but he is very relentless in his pursuit of this girl.
If we can't get this resolved, we will have to return her to the breeder. She is a lovely girl; my husband and I feel very bad and sad that we might have to make this decision.
So what thoughts/ideas/suggestions any of you might have?
Would spaying her help?
Shock collar on the male?
Coat males nose with ???? so he can't smell her?
We have been spraying a water/vinegar mix in his face when humping. That just stops him for the moment!!
Have you had her checked for a uti? Sometimes, a uti will cause the bitch to smell like she is in heat - which is what could be driving your boy crazy.
