First Heat Breeding - what would you do?

When your bitch accidentally breeds on her first heat, what would be the most responsible, ethical thing to do? From a breeders point of view.

Grin and bear it.

I agree. There's not much else you can safely do if you're hoping to breed her in the future.

Re: First Heat Breeding - what would you do?

I bought a bitch at 20 months old from another kennel. She had an accidental breeding at 12 months. I did her OFA hips which came out excellent, showed her a bit and didn't breed her until about 3 years old. She had 2 or 3 other litters with me, never an issue. Her grandchildren are currently with me :). She died of Cancer at 8 years old :(, but never an issue due to the early breeding. Just be sure to feed her well and give her a nice long break before she's bred again.

It could stunt her growth like it does in other animals, depends.
